6. Conclusion

The electric power infrastructure is currently undergoing a profound transformation, driven by an increase in the use of electricity from low-carbon and renewable sources. These sources can be intermittent and require storage solutions tailored to different storage durations (short-term, long-term, and seasonal). Lithium-based batteries, particularly lithium-ion, NMC, and LFP batteries, have already been deployed on a large scale for several years.

This widespread use of lithium batteries in stationary applications presents challenges, including competition with mobile applications, evolving needs in different regions of the world, and resource constraints. At the same time, rapid technological advancements—including developments in second-life battery use and recycling—provide grounds for optimism regarding the energy transition.
