The decision to build a new substation is primarily dictated by technical requirements. Once this decision has been taken, the problem is to find a plot of land as close as possible to the ideal electrical point, large enough to build the substation and allow the lines to arrive and depart.

The best solution is to install the future substation on a site close to the corridors of existing lines, or even at their intersection if possible.

When it is impossible to find such a location, the choice of land is the result of a harmonious compromise between technical, economic, administrative and environmental factors.
