If the dynamic characteristic were merged with the static characteristic ui = P, as we initially assumed, the arc voltage would reach a theoretically infinite value at the moment the current is cancelled. Fortunately, the reality is different.
The real characteristic passes through a maximum shortly before the current is cancelled; this is the extinction peak 1.4
