9.1 Fields of application
Today, in the LV field, airborne magnetic cut-off is, except in a few rare cases, the only one used.
In HV and EHV, the SF6 cut-off technique is practically the only one used.
For MT, where all techniques can be used, those of cutting in SF6 and in vacuum have replaced those in air, for reasons of cost and size (figure 30), and those in oil, for reasons of reliability, safety and reduced maintenance (table 6).
