2. Envelopes
The envelopes of the assemblies must ensure a certain number of protective functions:
protection against electric shock (direct and indirect contact) ;
protection against certain external influences.
2.1 Protection against electric shock
For protection against electric shock, and particularly against direct contact, a distinction must be made between :
open assemblies: on baseplate, frame, chassis ;
enclosed units: boxes, cabinets, desks, switchboards, which can be totally enclosed (by the enclosure and, if necessary, by one or more walls of the premises) or partially enclosed, by barriers...
