Self-supporting electrocatalysts are rare. Conventional electrode materials generally consist of two layers:
a highly conductive substrate;
on which an active electrocatalyst is deposited on the surface.
Several types of materials are used, depending on their nature (metal or carbon), or their structure (2D planar or 3D porous)
