The introduction of screw compressors in the refrigeration sector dates back to 1955 for twin-rotor models and 1971 for single-rotor models.
Their value was quickly recognized, and since then the number of machines installed by refrigeration specialists the world over has grown steadily, in all fields of application: deep-freezing, refrigeration, chillers, heat pumps and so on. Initially designed for gas compression, their introduction into the refrigeration field required a great many adaptations to ensure that these compressors could perform strictly the same functions as those performed by piston compressors. In fact, the technological evolution of these compressors continues to this day at all manufacturers.
