2.1 External aspect: exchanger as quadrupole
Seen from the outside, a heat exchanger looks like a black box with, like an electrical quadrupole, two inlets and two outlets for flowing fluids.
It's much more convenient to measure the essential characteristics of the exchanger's operation at one of these four poles, rather than making the inevitably more delicate measurements inside.
For each of the fluids 1 or 2, we therefore establish parameters that can be measured and measured at the inlet and outlet of each of the two fluids:
state: liquid, gas ;
the mass flow rate
