1. Concrete structures and environmental conditions
During the operational life of a nuclear power plant (figure 1 ), concrete structures are generally subjected to a number of environmental stresses (thermal, hydric, chemical, irradiation, etc.), in addition to the aging phenomena inherent in the material (physical and chemical deterioration of concrete). These phenomena affect concrete performance and are likely to limit the durability of structures.
