5. Manual methods
So-called manual methods, because they don't require the use of a computer, have been widely used. They can still be used to obtain the order of magnitude of a dose equivalent rate or photon heating.
Note :
This manual calculation of the order of magnitude is recommended even when performing a precise computer calculation, to ensure that there is no gross error in the computer calculation (always possible if there is an error in the data).
