Refining and conversion of uranium concentrates

The conversion activity is carried out in the plants of Comurhex, a 100% subsidiary since 1992 of the Cogema group, which became Areva in 2001:

• in Malvesi, reception and storage of uranium concentrates from all over the world. The current process includes the steps of solvent purification preparation of UO₃ by the ammonia route, conversion UO₃ into UF₄ ;

• at Pierrelatte, electrolysis of HF and conversion of UF₄ into UF₆ .

Current capacity is 14,000 tU/year.
