Multiple interdependent criteria must be taken into account when determining and optimizing the major technological design choices for a small modular reactor (SMR):

• These options must first and foremost ensure compliance with the specifications for the space mission(s) assigned to GENSF, which are generally expressed in terms of minimum expected performance requirements, the main ones being:

  • safety requirements to be met,

  • electrical power to be supplied,

  • service life at full power and total service life,

  • reliability,
