1. Formulation of radioactive effluent containment glasses
The aim of the formulation is to define a range of glass chemical compositions compatible with the chemical nature of the PF solution, with the relevant physico-chemical properties from the molten to the solid state. The objective is twofold:
mastering glassmaking in an industrial melting process;
and define long-term stability properties (chemical, physical and thermal) under storage and warehousing conditions.
The formulation of a nuclear glass is the result of a compromise between three objectives.
