1. Chemical kinetics
While thermodynamics can be used to calculate the equilibrium constant of a reaction, only kinetics is concerned with the speed and mechanism of the reaction, and the time required to reach equilibrium. The aim of this first part is to provide a brief reminder of the main concepts involved in reaction kinetics, with particular emphasis on elementary reactions. Complete demonstrations of the relationships recalled in this section can be found in the books given as references.
