9. Conclusion
This first part was devoted to the internal hydrodynamics of fluidized-bed gas-solid contactors, in its various regimes, and to a review of the auxiliary devices ensuring their proper operation. Fluidized beds have proven to be good gas-solid and solid-solid mixers. Problems associated with erosion-corrosion processes in the internal parts of the beds were addressed.
Fluidized bed technology is used in many industrial processes, benefiting not only from their excellent mixing/contactor performance and charge isothermicity, but also from their ability to achieve gas-to-particle or particle-to-wall mass and heat transfer with high transfer coefficients.
