3. Applications for bidirectional or tridirectional conduction

In the case of bidirectional or tridirectional conduction, there are two radically different approaches:

  • or an approximate solution is sought: through physical analysis, the number of spatial dimensions of the problem is reduced to make it a globally unidirectional problem, in which case the quadrupole method is applicable;

  • or we're looking for the most precise solution possible: to do this, we'll use general methods for solving partial differential equations.
