6. Conclusion
Industrial processes for culturing animal cells to produce therapeutic molecules are currently booming, particularly in the recombinant antibody and vaccine sectors. In addition to a strict regulatory framework, these processes are characterized by specific features such as nutritional requirements imposing a complex formulation of culture media, high cell sensitivity to their physico-chemical environment (pH, temperature, stress, etc.), and delicate operation. As a result, there is still considerable scope for improving their performance, notably through research into new cell lines, the use of better-controlled culture media, a better understanding of cell metabolism, the expert application of PAT methods or the fine modeling of transport phenomena in the bioreactor.
