3. Oxidative degradation of melanin

Melanin can be degraded in a number of ways, most often by oxidation. This is notably the case in hair coloring using hydrogen peroxide H 2 O 2 as an oxidant.

Oxidative degradation of eumelanin by H 2 O 2 has been described by Prota et al.
