4. Outlook and developments
For alkaline silicoaluminous concretes, the raw materials used are metakaolin, metallurgical slag, fly ash, coal slag and mining waste. The materials are activated with alkali hydroxide and/or alkali silicate.
Heating such a mixture to a temperature below 90°C would generally be conducive to maximum performance. Such concretes behave favorably compared to Portland concretes in :
resistance to acidic environments;
temperature and fire resistance ;
protecting reinforcement against corrosion.
To date, there are no publications on their performance compared with that of aluminous cement.
