An initial overview of the general classification of systems for treating air contaminated with pollutants is presented in the figure: 4[10][50] . For the purposes of this classification, treatment and purification processes are divided into four broad categories based on their ability to degrade or even destroy the pollutant(s), to simply transfer or transform the pollutant(s) for recovery, or to store the contaminated exhaust gas.
