Microreactors open up new possibilities industries. They are part of a quality, security, creativity and process intensification approach. They are thus a cornerstone of the plant of the future. Chemical or physical transformations are implemented in microreactors. This article describes the basic phenomena and principles, as well as certain industrial initiatives, whilst highlighting the application limits of these innovative technologies.
