An adsorption of n-butane is carried out in a fluidized bed of a 5 A molecular sieve whose characteristics are :

• diameter of approximately spherical particles: d_p = 3.2 × 10^–3 m ;

• bulk density: ρ_a = 1,070 kg × m^–3;

• heat capacity by mass: C_p = 1,300 J × kg^–1 × K^–1;

• macropore porosity: ε_M = 0.32 ;

• average macropore diameter: d_M = 320 nm = 3.2 × 10^–7 m ;

• average diameter of crystallites assumed to be spherical: d_c = 3.6 µm = 3.6 × 10^–6 m.
