4. Conclusion. Outlook
The results established on an experimental prototype demonstrate the interest and potential of this hybrid adsorption/ozonation regeneration process on zeolites. Several points are demonstrated, in particular:
the capacity of the zeolite is maintained over several operating cycles and is virtually unaffected by ozonation;
outlet gas analysis shows the absence of ozone and the presence of oxidation products in trace form. VOC oxidation is predominantly total, producing CO
2
. Organic by-products from partial oxidation remain trapped in the porous material;
the oxygen and carbon balances show that all the ozone introduced is used to oxidize the VOCs. The ozone is first decomposed on the Lewis acid sites of the zeolite, releasing oxygen...
