Overview

ABSTRACT

Carbon nanotubes (CNTs) have benefitted from advanced research works over the last few years. Carbon nanotubes have thus entered the realm of nanosciences and are facing significant challenges. Carbon nanotubes are very largely detailed: crystalline carbons, structure and properties of single-wall and multi-wall carbon nanotubes as well as carbon nanofibers. A synthesis based on high and average temperature processes and on non-thermal plasma processes is then presented. The various CNT applications conclude.

AUTHOR

 INTRODUCTION

Research on carbon nanotubes is now sufficiently advanced to stand as a specialty in its own right within the vast and new field of nanoscience, yet at the same time it is still relatively recent –, having emerged just over a decade ago–, with major challenges still ahead. Numerous applications for carbon nanotubes are being considered, and some are already under investigation.
