), i.e. a set of PL spectra for different excitation energies, has emerged as a powerful characterization technique for SWNT assemblies, suspended in a liquid, or dispersed in a solid matrix. As described in section 2, it was necessary to isolate carbon nanotubes using surfactants in order to detect light emission from the nanotubes.
