4. Flame-retardant systems with nanoparticles

Flame retardants (FRs) are compounds designed to improve all or only part of the fire reaction properties of polymers. They can be incorporated into polymers at mass levels of up to 50%, depending on their nature and that of the polymer, and on the level of fire reaction targeted. Conventional FRs are diverse in nature (mineral or organic), or mode of action (condensed or gaseous phase). The main types of flame retardants are metal hydroxides (Al(OH) 3 , Mg(OH) 2 ...), halogenated compounds such as PolyBromoDiphenylEthers, phosphorus compounds such as ammonium polyphosphate or nitrogen compounds such as melamine cyanurate
