5. Conclusion and outlook
Over and above the results obtained, this demonstration of the high contribution of pores smaller than 1 nm to capacitive storage is of interest to those skilled in the art on several levels.
It highlights the lack of fundamental knowledge in the field of mass transport in nanoporous materials. It is now clear that there is a need to develop dynamic and static mathematical models in confined media, in order to elucidate the physics of ionic motion on the one hand, and to improve or redefine the structure of the electrochemical double layer at such scales on the other.
These results then have a direct consequence at application level, since they show that it becomes necessary to adapt the texture of carbons to different types of electrolyte used in supercapacitors. This could lead to a new generation of high energy density supercapacitors,...
