1. Liquid-solid transition under pressure

1.1 Simon equation

The first step is to find out how the liquid-solid transition evolves under high pressure. With the exception of a few well-known substances (water, some salts, bismuth, antimony...), the melting temperature of a solid increases with pressure. The empirical relationship :

lg (P m + a) = b lg T m + c
