1. Numerical simulations
Given the complexity of the atomization phenomenon, it has been envisaged ever since the advent of high-performance computing to use it to predict the characteristics of the resulting droplet mists, as well as their evolution. Despite the power of modern computers, simplified models are still widely used in industry, although direct simulations of the phenomenon have become increasingly popular in recent years. This section gives an overview of the main techniques used.
