Energetic Ionic Liquids (EILs)

Understanding the physico-chemical properties is important for the screening and design of systems that could replace the "traditional" MMH/NTO diergolic system. As mentioned above, the properties of ILs can be adjusted by the choice of cation and anion. The most common cations for EILs are shown in figures 3, 4 and 5. Note that some C atoms in the ring are replaced by N atoms, as nitrogen species generally have higher combustion enthalpies than carbon species.
