Pesticides: functions and early developments

With the exception of a few inorganic products such as sulfur (S) or copper(II) sulfate (CuSO ₄ ), and a few organic products present in plant powders such as pyrethrum, the majority of active substances are synthetic chemicals. Biosynthetic chemicals have developed (Bacillus thuringiensis toxin), whether they are generated by living beings, whether enzymes are involved in certain manufacturing stages, or whether they come from the transformation of material elaborated by a living organism.

The identity of a chemical species or pure body is characterized by a set of physical, chemical and organoleptic properties, and by its invariable elemental composition (nature, number and arrangement of atoms).
