2. Document recognition systems
Document recognition applications are many and varied. But the performance of these systems is still modest in relation to the scope of their objectives. A presentation of the different stages in the recognition process provides a better understanding of the reasons for these difficulties.
2.1 Processing chain
Figure 4 schematically describes the architecture of a document recognition system. This decomposition is fairly general, but does not necessarily apply to all systems, since certain processes may be superfluous or may be articulated differently due to the intended application.
