In 2014, Vitalik Buterin, a 20-year-old Russian-Canadian with a passion for Bitcoin and blockchain in general, finalized a first version of the Ethereum protocol , and raised $19 million via Bitcoin to finance the project. Its aim was to overcome the limitations of Bitcoin, which had been designed exclusively for monetary applications. With the aim of broadening the scope of applications, Ethereum's ambition is to encourage numerous developments in sectors other than finance.
