3. Availability

Internet and VPN networks are now being used to transport more and more services (gaming, VoIP, e-commerce, television, etc.). Some of these services have significant economic value and/or availability constraints, requiring continuous, uninterrupted network operation. This section describes a number of BGP extensions designed to improve the availability of routing information.
