4. Conclusion
Ethernet has been used by operators for many years, but the latest functionality bricks are still recent. It is therefore a technology that is entering its maturity phase. Ethernet speeds are set to increase (400 Gb/s and 1 Tb/s are on the way), but the purely service side seems stable.
The next part of the work will be to standardize commissioning, so that Ethernet becomes the ideal successor to TDM-type services (E1/T1), with the same ease of implementation.
