A crucial problem in ad hoc networks is radio band sharing. While wireless networks (WLAN Wireless LAN ) offer solutions, these are not fully adapted to ad hoc networks. New techniques need to be developed that first take into account the naturally open nature of an ad hoc network. Secondly, we need to make the best possible use of the shared radio bandwidth, by finding the best compromise between spatial reuse and the problem of hidden nodes. The ad hoc networks currently being tested often use 802.11 [9] radio interfaces and therefore a CSMA protocol to share the radio band.
