6. Decision analysis
Data stores are extracts of the data contained in the data warehouse, dedicated to a specific business function or class of users. Decision-makers manipulate the data in these stores using specific tools. To meet this need, each warehouse is based on a specific data model. These data models can take the following form:
a relational DB ;
a table manipulated using a commercially available spreadsheet program;
a specific decision-making environment (Business Objects universe, Cognos catalog);
a multidimensional DB.
Figure 11 illustrates these different types of data store.
