The combustion chamber is the engine component located between the compression stages and the turbines (see figure 1 ). Its function is to convert the energy contained in the fuel in chemical form into heat. This is achieved by combustion, an exothermic process involving the oxidation of a reducing fuel by an oxidizing agent. In today's aeronautical propulsion context, the oxidizer is the oxygen contained in the air (referred to as aerobic combustion) and the fuel is a mixture of hydrocarbons.
