2.1 Planes and helicopters
Composite materials very quickly found their place on interior components for aircraft and helicopters. The main characteristics required for these applications are :
low-cost processing without the need for heavy equipment such as autoclaves;
fire/smoke/toxicity properties meeting current standards.
This last point is very important, as it represents the main drawback to the use of organic matrix composite materials...
