3. Instrumental parameters
This section describes the instrumental parameters that affect the performance characteristics of spectrophotometers. These parameters determine, in particular, the spectral range, spectral resolution, stray light ratio, and measurement dynamics, i.e., the range of concentrations that can be measured without having to dilute concentrated samples or concentrate diluted samples.
3.1 Spectral domain
Spectrophotometers in the UV-VIS range cover the range from 190 to 800 nm, with some devices limited to around 220 nm. Some spectrophotometers can also operate in the near infrared, up to 2,500 nm, which bridges the gap with devices designed for the mid-infrared, covering the range 2,500 nm-40,000 nm.

Regulations
In the field of UV-VIS molecular absorption spectrophotometry, there are many organizations that publish regulations or recommendations:
either in specific fields: US and EU Pharmacopeia for pharmacy;
either in general fields: ASTM, LNE, Eurachem, etc. for analysis methods and data processing, IUPAC for vocabulary;

The contact details of UV-VIS spectrophotometer manufacturers can be found on specialized websites such as Globalspec http://www.globalspec.com or through search engines. This information is listed in the section below (please note that European manufacturers...
Websites
While the Internet is an extraordinary source of information, finding the right information is not always easy, particularly in scientific and technical fields. Information is generally searched for using search engines or meta search engines that aggregate results from several engines.
Two difficulties arise in this research:
the choice of keywords to launch...
Organizations
The contact details for learned societies and organizations involved in spectrophotometry are provided in the "Websites" section above. These organizations often publish free or paid journals and have a document library that can be accessed from their website.
