ABSTRACT
The aim of medicinal (or therapeutic) chemistry is to discover and develop new active principles and therefore new medicinal products. This article concisely presents the various techniques used for this purpose in medicinal chemistry. Structure-activity relationships (SAR), precursors and metabolites, research initiated by the knowledge acquired on enzyme receptors and inhibitors, quantitative relationships between structure and activity, stereoisometry, or else the physico-chemical modifications of a medicinal product are many of the elements and notable examples which allow for the illustration of these techniques.

INTRODUCTION
The aim of this text is to give a succinct presentation, illustrated by appropriate examples, of the various techniques used in medicinal chemistry (therapeutic chemistry), with the aim of discovering new drugs. As a general rule, and with the exception of a few special cases, only the international non-proprietary name (INN) corresponding to a given drug is reported. The name(s) of pharmaceutical specialties corresponding to the same INN and/or their structure, preparation methods, pharmacological, pharmacokinetic and therapeutic properties, can be found in various appropriate works [1] to [6].
