5. Technological innovations
Since 2010, technological advances have enabled the development of microfluidic devices that reproduce more "physiological" systems than 2D models and cocultures, for the study of biological systems known as "organ-on-chip" or "body-on-chip". In addition, bioprinting methods enable the construction of 3D tissue models closer to in vivo conditions (figure 14 ).
