Structural Enzymology

There are four possible structural levels for a protein. These levels are characterized simply by the terms primary, secondary, tertiary and quaternary . The quaternary level is not always present. In all cases, enzymes possess a certain degree of structural plasticity and adjustability. Their conformation can be modified, influenced by various physicochemical parameters of the environment and by multiple molecular factors (adducts, ligands…).
