1. Body modeling, laws and movements
As explained in the introduction, sports biomechanics is based on a scientific approach summarized in figure
1
. It is based on theoretical modelling of the question posed, the implementation of measurement chains, in the laboratory or in situ, combined with appropriate data processing and, finally, validation of the results obtained, incorporating simulation and optimization processes. This approach calls on skills from both the engineering and biological sciences, in particular to develop a more realistic model of the human body, tailored to the subject under study.
