7. Non-collective sanitation
Non-collective sanitation refers to individual installations for the treatment of domestic wastewater. These systems concern homes that are not served by a public wastewater and blackwater collection network, and must therefore treat their own wastewater before discharging it into the natural environment.
If the sewage system is too large, it may not be effective. But if it's too small, it won't be able to treat domestic wastewater properly.
As of March 1 er 2012, all home extension work must be accompanied by an application for a planning or building permit for the rehabilitation of a non-collective sanitation installation. The latter must also be accompanied by a certificate of conformity, issued by the Service public d'assainissement non collectif...
