Mineral content concerns water in general, and drinking water in particular. It determines the extent to which the presence of salts (salinity), calcium and magnesium (hardness or TH titre), bases and acids (alkalinity, acidity: TA titre and pH) is acceptable in drinking water, and determines how it should be treated to prevent damage to equipment and installations.
