Independence of volumes located within the right-of-way of a high-rise building
Fire safety in high-rise buildings (IGH) – Additional provisions relating to the classification of buildings and the independence of volumes within their boundaries

In accordance with the provisions of article R. 122-2 of the Code de la construction et de l'habitation, volumes located in the lower part of the building which meet the conditions of independence and safety measures set out in the present section are not considered to be part of the building.

These volumes may include establishments open to the public (ERP) as defined in article R. 123-2 of the French Construction and Housing Code, if they are built over three consecutive levels, one of which must be an access level for public fire and rescue service vehicles.
