Alternative Stormwater Management

As we saw in the previous chapter, alternative stormwater management (ASM) helps to reduce soil sealing, a common problem in modern urban areas. Materials such as concrete and asphalt prevent rainwater from infiltrating the soil, increasing runoff and the risk of downstream flooding.

GAEP offers innovative solutions such as rain gardens, green roofs and permeable paving stones, which encourage water absorption and infiltration. These techniques significantly reduce run-off water, reducing the risk of flooding and helping to recharge groundwater.
