1. Rock mechanics properties
In the field of rocks, it is now conventional to consider two different scales:
that of the rock, corresponding to a few cubic decimeters; this is the scale of the sample and of the specimen subjected to laboratory tests;
that of the rock mass, which corresponds to a few tens of cubic meters; this is the scale of earthworks and structural foundations.
