7. Program aspect
The program aspect also plays a part in the cost of an operation. The TBM has a two-fold impact on the project schedule. On the one hand, we need to consider the time required to manufacture it, and on the other, the duration of excavation is conditioned by its speed.
7.1 Manufacturing and assembly time
The time required for design, manufacture, assembly and factory installation is generally around 12 to 14 months.
The time required for dismantling and on-site transport depends on the distance over which the TBM has to be transported. Generally speaking, it takes from 1 to 3 months.
Finally, on-site assembly time varies according to site configuration. Sometimes, the shaft in which the TBM is to be assembled...
